Automation Engineer. Had enough of ladder diagrams? So have we.
At Vlegel, we build the digital engine for the physical world. We bridge IT and industrial hardware, without corporate buzzwords or endless meetings. Just solid engineering from Genk.
We’re pragmatic, but open to new ideas. If modern tools or applied AI solve a real problem on the shop floor or make a machine smarter, we get stuck in. If it’s just hype for hype’s sake, we skip it.
What you’ll do.
- Code over ladders.
- Text-based programming (Structured Text, C#, Python) is your comfort zone. You can read a ladder diagram when you have to, but you’d rather write modern, maintainable code.
- Connect two worlds.
- You understand software, but also electrics, schematics and electronics.
- Machine to cloud.
- You connect machines directly to modern IT platforms, data streams and smart logic. OPC UA, MQTT and a Unified Namespace are familiar territory.
- Applied innovation.
- You’re curious about how modern technology, including practical AI, can improve physical machines and processes.
- Translate and simplify.
- You listen to what the customer really needs, cut through the noise and turn tricky operational problems into clean, structured solutions.
What you’ll bring.
- A technical foundation.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in automation, electromechanical engineering, electronics or computer science. Or simply equivalent experience you can demonstrate.
- Experience with PLCs.
- Siemens TIA Portal, Beckhoff TwinCAT or something similar. The more text-based, the better.
- Happy on the shop floor.
- You enjoy visiting customers, looking at the machine and talking to the operator.
Why Vlegel?
- Partners in crime.
- We work as one team, with our customers and each other. No silos.
- No bullshit.
- When a problem crops up, we take ownership and fix it. No finger-pointing.
- Real impact.
- You build software for real machines you can actually see moving.
- Room to grow.
- A small team with direct communication, training where you need it and projects spanning sensor to dashboard.
